Artichoke
In the second painting of this suite of four pieces, an artichoke is cut in half to expose its amazingly beautiful interior and placed on the same, warm flame-red background. The darker greens of the outer leaves with the pale green heart provide a delicate contrast to the deep red and purple of the thistle, which adds a small but powerful focal point.
